the house

Newly renovated, Marquette Park House is perched at the end of a quiet street adjacent to Marquette Park and its oak savannah.  Featuring an open living-kitchen-dining room plan with large windows facing the park, the house is a stone’s throw from the Lake Michigan beach.  The path to the beach is magical: a paved trail from the house goes through the woods, past a Prairie Style pavilion, over a Japanese bridge to a lagoon island, back over a suspension bridge, through a picnic follie and across a dune to the sandy lakeshore.

the interiors

The interiors feature furniture, rugs and accessories both contemporary and collected. The living room includes the both chic, comfortable full-size sofa-sleeper is by Danish manufacturer Softline, as well as swivel chairs from West Elm affording outdoor views and indoor conversations. The walnut dining table and leather chairs, designed by the Indiana manufacturer Dunbar, are repurposed from a branch bank conference room, complimenting a custom, built-in banquette.

Each of the three bedrooms host a luxury queen-size bed with distinctly unique décor, featuring collected pieces and artists with ties to the area.

The kitchen is fully equipped for cooking, entertaining and easy clean up including stainless steel appliances (yes, a dishwasher), a hybrid K-cup/drip coffee pot, cooking pots, pans, prep utensils and dining settings and glassware for 6+ people.

The bathroom features limestone tile with a tub/shower and plenty of drying racks for both bath and beach towels.

An infrared grill is adjacent to the kitchen on the deck.

The in-unit washer/dryer is at the end of the hall.

the art

Art is a major inspiration for the house. Along with the photography of Dan a co-owner, local and regional artists with a connection to Miller Beach are featured throughout.
